Hello Guys, Buzkashi - is a Central Asian sport in which horse-mounted players attempt to place a goat or calf carcass in a goal. Similar games are known as kokpar, kupkari and ulak tartysh, in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and as kökbörü and gökbörü in Turkey, where it is played mainly by communities originally from Central Asia. Buzkashi began among the nomadic Turkic peoples who came from farther north and east spreading westward from China and Mongolia between the 10th and 15th centuries in a centuries-long series of migrations that ended only in the 1930s. From Scythian times until recent decades, buzkashi has remained a legacy of that bygone era. During the rule of the Taliban regime, buzkashi was banned in Afghanistan, as the Taliban considered the game immoral. Buzkashi, also known as kokpar or kokboru is a national sport of Afghanistan. The game is played mainly in Central Asia, usually in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and also Iran. The objective of Buzkashi is to ride on horses and attempt to drag a goat carcass towards the goal. The game Buzkashi has two variants, Tudabarai and Qarajai. The Tudabarai is the simpler form where the goal is just to grab the goat. The Qarajao is a bit more complex where the riders are required to carry the carcass around a marker before throwing it into a scoring circle. Buzkashi is played on a field with a square layout, having 400 meters on each side. The game is played between two teams of 10 players each. Only five riders per team are allowed on the field in each half. In Buzkashi all the players are required to wear heavy clothing and head protection to protect themselves from whips and boots. All players are required to sit on horseback or yak back while playing the game. The target for each player is to struggle to take control of a headless goat carcass in an attempt to drag it to a designated goal. The duration for each game is 90 minutes with 45 minutes each half. There is a 15-minute break in between. In certain special situations, the game lasts for several days. At the end of the buzkashi match, the team with more goals win.
