So what the heck is this thing called Arduino? Well, Arduino is a tool that helps you control electronic stuff with code. So if you're building a house, you'd probably go grab a hammer. Well, if you're gonna build a project using electronic stuff, grab yourself an Arduino. But what do I mean exactly by electronic stuff? Well, let's make two big general groups. Inputs and outputs. Inputs are devices that gather information, and outputs are devices that have some action in the world. So for inputs, think of things, like temperature sensors, light sensors, touch sensors, flex sensors, humidity sensors, infrared sensor, distance sensors. Just to name a few. Then you have things like outputs. DC motors, stepper motors, servo motors, LEDs, LED strips, buzzers, speakers, LCD displays, OLED displays. The list goes on. What Arduino can do is stand in the middle of these input and output devices and control them with some cool logic that you get to create. So Arduino can be used to read inputs and control outputs. Okay. So now you have a general idea of what Arduino is. It's a tool to control electronic stuff. Great! Okay. But how do you actually get started using Arduino? What do you have to do? So here's what you're gonna need. We're gonna talk about the big three. It's what I like to call the Arduino trifecta. You've got Arduino hardware, the Arduino IDE, and the actual Arduino code that you're gonna need to write. So first, we have the physical component of Arduino, which is called an Arduino board. There's a bunch of different types of Arduino boards out there. When someone says Arduino board, it could mean a number of these different circuit boards. In just a little bit, I'm gonna tell you exactly which one to go by if you haven't purchased one yet. And here's some quick good news. If you have bought one already, it's probably gonna work just fine. Now, all Arduino boards share one thing in common. They have a microcontroller on them. A microcontroller is basically a really small computer. So when you use an Arduino, you're really just using a microcontroller. The microcontroller is what enables us to read those different inputs and control those outputs. So again, when somebody says Arduino board, they're talking about something physical... Arduino Tutorial: LED Sequential Control- Beginner Project


Arduino Tutorial: LED Sequential Control- Beginner Project Inexpensive Arduino Starter Kit: 🤍 Link to Arduino IDE: 🤍 Link to Sketch for this project: 🤍 Today I am going to show you guys a very simple arduino project for beginners. We’re going to get three different LEDs to turn on and turn off in a simple sequence, like you see here. For this, you’re going to need an Arduino Uno or similar Arduino board, a breadboard (preferably with a positive and negative rail like this one), four breadboard jumper wires, a USB cable to for the Uno, three LEDs of different colors(here we are using Blue, Red and Green) and 3 220ohm resistors. Now we’re using 220ohm resistors, because they seem to work best with the LEDs we have- but you could use different resistors, depending on your LEDs and your circuit. I’ve put a link to an inexpensive arduino kit that contains all these components in the description below, in case you’re looking to get an arduino uno and all the basic components for this tutorial. So lets first setup the hardware. The first step is to establish a common ground. To do this, use a jumper wire to connect the Ground pin on the arduino to the negative rail on the breadboard. This allows all the LEDs to use the ground pin on the arduino. Now we’ll insert the resistors into the breadboard. Space the resistors out with one leg connected to the the negative rail. Now its time to insert the LEDs. Before inserting the LEDs, its important to note that the longer of the two leads on most through-hole LEDs is the positive leads. Connecting it the wrong way, will cause this circuit to not work. Connect the negative lead of the LED to the horizontal rail on which the resistor is connected and connect the positive lead to an adjacent rail. Repeat this process for all three LEDs. Now its time to complete the circuit. We are going to use output ports 13, 12 and 11 for the input signal. Connect the positive lead of the LED on the right to pin 13, the LED in the center to 12 and the LED on the left to pin 11. The circuit is now complete. Power on the Arduino Uno by connecting it to your computer using the USB cable. The LEDs on the board turn on and the board powers up. Before we work on our sketch, make sure to download the Arduino IDE for your specific operating system. I’ll leave a link to where you can download this software, in the description below. Once you’ve downloaded and installed the arduino IDE, go ahead and download the Sketch to run this program, using the link I’ve put in the description. 🤍 Open the downloaded file. The program first creates 3 variables. LED1, LED2 and LED3. This allows us to change the output pins, without having to modify the entire program. The code in the setup part of the program tells the arduino that pins 13, 12 and 11 will be outputs. The loop portion of the program is where the actual instructions live. The first three digitalwrite functions turn on one LED at a time with a 200ms delay between each of them turning on. The next three digitalwrite functions turn off the leds with a 300ms delay between each LED. Now you can change the delay between each LED to change the rhythm of the LEDs turning on and off. I’ve found that using 200ms and 300ms gives it a nice smooth rhythm. Now you’re ready to upload the program to the board. Now click on the Tools tab of the Arduino Window, make sure the Arduino Uno is selected as your board and make sure you select the COM port your board is connected to. Most of the times there will be one COM port available and that will be the one you need to select. Click on the upload button on the top left hand corner of the screen to upload the program to the Uno. A green progress bar on the lower right hand corner will indicate upload progress. And unless any errors appear in the black message bar at the bottom of the screen, your board should now be running the program and the LEDs should be turning on and off like you can see here. De Pro Mini is weggelaten omdat deze ook uit de handel is (er zijn nog wel veel klonen beschikbaar), en omdat de Pro Mini een compact 328P bord is zonder USB poort, dus nog lastiger in gebruik. De Zero/M0 zit er niet in omdat dit bord veel te duur is voor wat het biedt. De DUE is completer, sneller en kost flink minder dan de Zero. Wel is de DUE wat groter. De Arduino MKR serie vraagt nog verder onderzoek, en zijn lokaal niet af te halen. De MKR serie lijkt een reactie op de ESP borden: goedkope krachtige WiFi geschikte ontwikkelmodules. Het T-shirt is voorzien van het logo van de Philips P2000T, onze eerste thuiscomputer die we in 1983 hadden, die draaide op een Zilog Z80 8-bit processor op 2,5 MHz. Alle Arduino's zijn op eigen kosten aangeschaft en uitgeprobeerd en de genoemde afhaalprijzen gelden voor Eindhoven. De keuzes zijn volledig op basis van eigen onderzoek. Geluid is sinds dit filmpje sterk verbeterd, ik gebruik nu een Lavalier microfoon i.p.v. de shotgun die ik eerder gebruikte.

This will allow you to make a permanent version of your project without using up one of your precious Arduino boards. The ATmega328 is the microcontroller chip at the heart of the Arduino Uno. It is available in several packages, we will focus on the common 28-pin DIP (Dual Inline Package). You only need a handful of components to turn an ATmega328 chip into a fully-functional Arduino Uno equivalent. It’s much cheaper and a lot smaller, allowing you to build a permanent version of your design onto a small circuit board. I will also show you three methods of programming the ATmega328 chip, after all an Arduino isn’t very useful if you can’t upload a sketch to it! To illustrate my point I will put together a very simple yet cute “music box” using an Arduino Uno, and then we’ll move the project onto an ATmega328. It will be of particular interest to Star Wars fans as the “music box” plays “The Imperial March”. If you have an old Darth Vader or Storm Trouper toy it would be neat to build it into it! I cannot take any credit for the sketch I used to create the Star Wars music box, the code was written by Nick Sort about 6 years ago and is available on GitHub - 🤍 . How To Use An RTC (Real Time Clock) With Arduino Uno R3 | Make an Accurate Clock!


First a simple example using only an Arduino Uno R3 and a DFRobot DS1307 RTC Module - then incorporating an LCD Display + three buttons to make a Functional, Accurate, Digital Clock. I'll show exactly how to use a RTC, how to bread-board and how to make three components, a DFRobot Gravity: I2C DS1307 RTC Module, a DFRobot Gravity: I2C LCD1602 Arduino LCD Display Module and the Italian micro-controller stallion that is the Arduino Uno R3 work in harmony. The Arduino Uno R3 is perfect for a job like this as we can tell it exactly what to do and it will perform that job every time and the instant it turns on. It also has great support for all kinds of maker hardware so you can use it for this project then pull it out, re-flash the code and throw it into a whole different setup doing a completely different task. The DFRobot Gravity RTC clock used here will function for 5 years from when the button battery is inserted providing accurate time for that whole length of time. This has the new version DS1307 RTC module which adopts a high precision crystal oscillator. Testing conducted shows the time error is only about 1 second in 24 hours (for comparison the average time error of Mechanical Watches is about 20s). For this setup here I used a DFRobot Gravity LCD Display. This one is neat because the contrast is automatically done (no fiddling with a potentiometer required) and it comes backlit out of the box. I explain all the code, how to set up Arduino IDE and provide schematics. With all the code already downloaded to the Arduino, this would make for a very fun bread-boarding experiment with a very rewarding conclusion. It is very tactile and would consistently tell the correct time even when powered down. I can see it being implemented as a school lesson over a double period. I also see this as a great springboard to create your own clock creations with the Arduino being used with other exotic display methods (like Nixie Tubes) or improving the code to creating new features (such as multiple clocks running for different locations in the world). Introducing the Arduino UNO WiFi Rev 2


Co-developed with Microchip, the Uno WiFi Rev 2 is built around the new ATmega4809, a u-blox Nina W102 WiFi module, and an integrated IMU. The Uno WiFi will make it even easier to deploy products that need connectivity using the classic Arduino form factor, and is ideal for emerging IoT industries such as automotive, agriculture, consumer electronics, smart home, and wearables. Among its other features, the ATmega4809 provides 6KB of RAM, 48KB of Flash, three UARTS, Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs), and an integrated high-speed ADC. Combined with Microchip’s ECC608 crypto chip on the Uno board, the microcontroller also provides hardware-based security for connecting projects to the cloud including AWS and Google.
