The Boston Celtics currently have one of the best halfcourt offenses in NBA history, due in large part to the Kristaps Porzingis trade and the Jrue Holiday trade. Jayson Tatum continues to play at an MVP level with Jaylen Brown alongside him, but now they're a more well-rounded team than ever. The Boston Celtics offense is operating under a unique system crafted by Joe Mazzulla, a system heavily derivative of the San Antonio Spurs dynasty that made heavy use of a play called "Motion Strong". With the Celtics getting the best versions of Derrick White and Jrue Holiday, they're beginning to look borderline unstoppable, and in this Boston Celtics breakdown, I explain why. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. LaMelo Ball has been the latest player to be labeled as "empty stats", due in large part to the shortcomings of the Charlotte Hornets organization. The truth is a lot more complicated though, because when LaMelo Ball was fully healthy during the 2021-22 season, he helped them achieve an above .500 record and they made the play-in tournament. Despite being compared to players like Tyrese Haliburton and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LaMelo Ball is truly his own player. The Hornets have a long way to go before they're a truly competitive, but with LaMelo operating as the primary facilitator and offensive engine, they have a lot more to work with than a lot of teams in the NBA. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. The Dallas Mavericks have been off to a hot start this year, due in part to Dereck Lively's immediate impact as a rookie. The 19-year-old rookie out of Duke University has been everything the Mavericks could've asked for, and then some. Lively's ability to perfectly complement Luka Doncic as a pick and roll partner has them poised to be one of the most lethal 2-man combos in the entire league. Dereck Lively is a unique player, because he doesn't have a particularly diverse skillset, even though centers in the modern NBA are being asked to do more than they ever have been. The Mavs made so many great offseason acquisitions already, with the arrival of Grant Williams and Derrick Jones Jr. helping to surround Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic with quality talent. The Mavericks already had some decent young pieces in Jaden Hardy and Josh Green, but Dereck Lively II looks like he's gonna bolster that young talent even further. The fact that the Mavs managed to snag him with the 12th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft has him looking like a steal. Despite this, Dereck Lively has been insanely impactful, helping the Dallas Mavericks start the season looking like one of the best teams in the NBA. The Minnesota Timberwolves are the BEST DEFENSE IN THE NBA to start the season, due in large part to Rudy Gobert returning to the DPOY-caliber form that we saw him reach with the Utah Jazz. But even outside of just Gobert's defensive return to form, the emergence of Jaden McDaniels as one of the best defenders in the entire league and Anthony Edwards finally taking that leap defensively has catapulted them into a defensive juggernaut. The Timberwolves defense is what really sets them apart from the rest of the NBA right now. Last year, they the Timberwolves had to navigate the injury to Karl-Anthony Towns, the Mike Conley trade, and various injuries near the postseason to Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid. But now, the fully-realized version of the Wolves is here, and it's scary. The time has finally come. Victor Wembanyama made his NBA debut for the San Antonio Spurs this past Wednesday, and we finally got to see what Wemby could do on the national stage. Even though the Spurs didn't come out with a win, that doesn't mean we didn't get the full Victor Wembanyama experience. During the preseason, Wemby showcased the full arsenal of what he was going to be able to do alongside the San Antonio Spurs young core of players like Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell. There were no shortage of hiccups during Wemby's rookie debut, but the signs are there that he's going to be a devastatingly good player as long as health permits, and if the San Antonio Spurs can put the right team around him, he's due for an unprecedented career. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. Use registration code "ALEXHOOPS" for $10 off your first order on Pristine Auctions! 🤍 The James Harden trade might just be exactly what the Los Angeles Clippers need to finally break through to the NBA Finals. After years of struggling to make a deep playoff run around Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers have pulled the trigger on a James Harden trade. While there will always be concerns around a Paul George injury or Kawhi Leonard injury, this is a hail mary that the Clippers had to throw in a last-ditch effort to try and make it work before Kawhi and PG start to show significant signs of decline. With the established chemistry between Russell Westbrook and James Harden, going back to their days playing together on the Houston Rockets, Harden will bring a new dynamic to their offense and hopefully plug some of the holes that they've shown over the years. The Philadelphia 76ers are gonna reap the rewards from not having Harden's contract on the books, and the Clippers get one last shot to make something happen. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. The Minnesota Timberwolves are THE BEST defense in the entire NBA so far, due in large part to Rudy Gobert playing a defensive player of the year caliber level. Rudy Gobert's defense to start this season is up there with some of the best defense he's played in his entire career, and as a result, the Timberwolves defense has benefited immensely from it. The Minnesota Timberwolves have some questions to answer still, but Anthony Edwards is not one of them. Edwards has already improved drastically in an incredibly small amount of time, and the Timberwolves have seen a huge boost in their overall success as a result. Anthony Edwards has already solidified himself as one of the most exciting young players in the NBA. Anthony Edwards FIBA appearances have even further cemented him as player to watch as a premiere go-to option. Watching Anthony Edwards dunk is one of those moments in basketball that just hits completely different. The OKC Thunder are poised for a big leap, due in large part to Chet Holmgren's imminent emergence as a starting center. Throughout the NBA Preseason, Chet has looked fantastic alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey, and he just adds to the Thunder's treasure-trove of young talent. Chet Holmgren's elite defense is of course exciting, but his ability to space the floor and operate as a tradition big at times is going to do wonders for OKC's spacing, opening up the interior for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey to maximize their abilities to get to the rim. Sam Presti has done a fantastic job surrounding SGA with talent, with Jalen Williams, Ousmane Dieng, Cason Wallace, and countless pieces that could be great for years to come. Tyrese Haliburton has become a somewhat polarizing player. Some people think that Haliburton is quickly becoming one of the best point guards in the NBA, and there are others that think he's become overrated. The Indiana Pacers are of course still in the process of rebuilding, but it's clear that Tyrese Haliburton is the focal point of the team until further notice. He's shown that he has amazing chemistry and synergy with Buddy Hield and Myles Turner, and his style of play is a nice contrast to that of recent lottery pick Bennedict Mathurin. Tyrese Haliburton was an All-Star last season, and he had some of the highest assists per game in the NBA. On any given night during the regular season, a Tyrese Haliburton pass would often be one of the biggest highlights. So what is it about Haliburton that gets people hung up? There are more flaws to his game than you may think, but at the same time, he might be significantly better than you realize. There were very few guys from the 2022 NBA Draft as good as Mark Williams was defensively last season for the Charlotte Hornets. The 15th overall pick was one of the best Charlotte Hornets draft picks in a long time, and despite the Hornets struggling to compete, with LaMelo Ball dealing with injuries throughout the season, it was hard to ignore the bright spots that they have in Mark Williams. Mark Williams is already a defensive monster. His counting stats aren't mind blowing, but that doesn't mean the signs aren't abundantly clear that he's not far from being one of the best defenders in the entire NBA. The Charlotte Hornets defense improved greatly once he was made a full time rotational player for them. The former Duke University big man is poised for a big second year with the Hornets. His time at Duke was enough to get him close to the lottery in the 2022 draft, but Mark now looks like one of the biggest steals thus far, looking more and more like an elite defender. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. Some NBA fans think Austin Reaves is a future All-Star, and some think he only gets as much attention as he does because he plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. Anybody playing next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis is going to be under a microscope, but how much of the spotlight does Austin Reaves deserve? With how Austin Reaves has been performing for Team USA FIBA exhibition games so far, he's gotten some increased attention lately. But how good is Austin Reaves, actually? We got to see him step up big time late in the season for the Lakers when they were without LeBron James, who was out recovering from a foot injury. Not only did Reaves elevate his own play, but he proved that he was capable of playing as the lead guard alongside Anthony Davis. The Lakers resigning Austin Reaves, who was an unrestricted free agent this offseason, was a huge boost to their potential heading into the future. There was the fear he could've gotten snatched up by the San Antonio Spurs if they offered him the max, but the LA Lakers got lucky, signing him to a very team-friendly contract. If Reaves can even become 50% of what his ceiling might be, then they're going to be in good shape. ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 Check out the EPM database: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. Will the Jrue Holiday trade and Kristaps Porzingis trade be enough to get the Boston Celtics back to the NBA Finals? By shipping out Rob Williams, Malcolm Brogdon, and other assets to bring in Jrue Holiday, the Boston Celtics are officially all in on winning a title after giving Jaylen Brown the supermax and locking their core in for the foreseeable future. The former Milwaukee Bucks point guard has struggled in the playoffs historically, but Brad Stevens and the Celtics are hoping that, in a reduced role, Jrue Holiday's defense will be the main draw to elevate them. While Boston doesn't have a ton of depth at this point after largely shipping it out for Jrue and Kristaps Porzingis, it might still be enough, as long as Jayson Tatum can reach that MVP level that we've occasionally seen him reach in the past. What the Boston Celtics roster lacks in depth, they might be able to make up for in star power. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. Franz Wagner is one of the few players in the NBA that can quite literally do everything. The Orlando Magic are towards the end of what most consider to be a rebuilding phase, and the duo of Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero are spearheading their ambitions to make the playoffs next year. Franz had an electric showing at the FIBA World Cup for Germany, and it's only solidifying the notion that the Orlando Magic have not just one, but two young stars in the making with him and Paolo Banchero. Wagner is a unique player in that he is extremely capable of doing everything, while also being extremely good at some things. It's hard to find really anything that Franz is overly deficient in, and he already looks like he's gonna be one of the most versatile players in the NBA on both sides of the floor. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. Onyeka Okongwu might just be the most underrated center in the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks #6 overall pick from the 202 NBA draft has been quietly improving over the course of the last few seasons, and he's poised for a breakout. Okongwu is the perfect pairing for Trae Young, especially with how pick and roll-heavy their offense is seemingly going to be under head coach Quin Snyder, and his defensive abilities make him a much-needed asset for a team that's struggled to hold up on that end. Onyeka Okongwu's offense has more than you think too, with him utilizing some veteran techniques to help Trae get to his spots, and his mid range development might be a game-changer for the Hawks. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. The Kristaps Porzingis trade took the NBA by storm last night, with the Boston Celtics sending Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for two first round picks, and the Washington Wizards receiving Tyus Jones in the trade. The fact that it had to be a Marcus Smart trade is sure to leave Celtics fans in shambles, but I truthfully don't think you should be too upset about what you got for him. Porzingis is gonna do a lot for Boston, and his playmaking ability is actually a perfect fit alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. See the Boston Celtics trade away such an important piece of the core is sad, but this might be what the Celtics need to get over the hump. And I'm sure not too many people care, BUT after the Bradley Beal trade and now the Kristaps Porzingis trade and getting Tyus Jones in return, I think the Wizards are doing a fantastic job of kickstarting their rebuild. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. The Philadelphia 76ers and James Harden were destined to fail, and the reason why is a lot more complicated than Daryl Morey simply not wanting to give Harden a max contract extension. A James Harden trade might've been inevitable. In a recent video that James Harden posted, he called Daryl Morey a liar and said he would never play for a team that Morey was a part of ever again, only further thickening the ongoing plot since he's requested a trade. But there's a reason why this might've been the plan all along. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, the Sixers had to choose between long-term success or short-term solutions, and signing James Harden to a max contract extension would've potentially doomed them to NBA purgatory. While they do have to balance appeasing Joel Embiid, ultimately, this might be better for the Philadelphia 76ers in the long run. You may not even know who Ochai Agbaji is, but the 14th overall pick from the 2022 NBA Draft, who was traded to the Utah Jazz shortly after draft night, is due for a very long career in the NBA. Agbaji is a unique player because, despite being drafted in the lottery, he was a four-year college player and came to the NBA at the age of 22. Now, there's plenty of good reasons as to why he was selected in the lottery. He was the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, he was one of the biggest reasons why the University of Kansas Jayhawks were able to take down the University of North Carolina Tarheels in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Sometimes, when you're good enough, it doesn't matter your age. And that's certainly the case for Ochai Agbaji. While I don't think he's ever going to be the first option, or even second option for the Utah Jazz, Agbaji exemplifies why it's important to not always look at potential, but also players that are good immediately. While Lauri Markkanen was the big draw of the Utah Jazz trade that sent Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland, Ochai Agbaji might quietly be the biggest steal of it all. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. With the Damian Lillard trade request dominating the NBA offseason, the Portland Trail Blazers are in a difficult position. The Miami Heat are the top suitors for Dame at the moment, with a potential Tyler Herro trade package being the focal point of the deal. The rift between Dame and Portland has been growing ever larger for years now, and with it finally at a tipping point, the Blazers are just hoping to capitalize on his trade value as much as possible. But a Damian Lillard Miami Heat trade would likely not net Portland nearly enough to make them even remotely interested in moving him. With Damian Lillard's agent reportedly warning other front offices not to trade for him, things have become even more complicated. This whole ordeal spawns a very interesting conversation about the supermax contract in the NBA, and how it punishes teams and players for being loyal to one another. Damian Lillard has always been constantly mentioned in NBA trade rumors, but Dame time has come to an end in Portland. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. The Denver Nuggets taking down the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals behind Nikola Jokic's all-time great performances leads me to believe we may be witnessing the birth of the NBA's next dynasty. The 2-man combo of Jokic and Jamal Murray is at the core of what makes the Denver Nuggets tick, but the players that they've put around these two makes me think that this team is capable of accomplishing much more for much longer. Aaron Gordon was a huge acquisition for them, being a primary piece of their newfound defensive success, and they saw a guy like Christian Braun, who's a rookie, step up on the biggest stage in the NBA Finals to help them win games. With Kentavious Caldwell-Pope under contract, Bruce Brown possibly accepting their player option, and Michael Porter Jr. continuing to develop, there's no reason the Denver Nuggets can parlay this success into future success. This Heat vs Nuggets Finals was a good reminder of why you should be patient when trying to build a championship contender. The rise of Jamal Murray & Nikola Jokic highlights the idea that patience and planning wins at the end of the day. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Leonard Miller with the 33rd pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Leonard Miller, who played alongside Scoot Henderson with the G-League Ignite, is a 19-year-old power forward who was initially projected to be picked anywhere from the late first round of the draft, all the way up to the lottery, but Miller instead fell to the second round. But after a promising showing with the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Summer League, Leonard Miller looks like he could be a contributor sooner rather than later. He could be one of the biggest steals in terms of 2023 NBA draft picks. ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. Victor Wembanyama isn't just the clear #1 pick for the 2023 NBA Draft, he isn't just one of the greatest NBA draft prospects we've ever seen. He's also a player that could legitimately change the game of basketball. The San Antonio Spurs, who won the 2023 NBA Draft lottery, are without question taking Victor Wembanyama in the upcoming draft. This new young powerhouse, the Victor Wembanyama Spurs, could quickly become a dangerous threat for the playoffs. Wembanyama helped his team, Metropolitans 92, reach the LNB Pro A Finals, and he was clearly the best player for this team. This French league isn't full of scrubs either, they have a lot of former NBA players and very talented basketball players that Wemby has been dominating over the course of his young pro career. We're truly in uncharted territory with Victor Wembanyama, and there's not telling how teams are preparing for his arrival in the NBA. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. Jabari Smith Jr. is one of the most polarizing rookies of the 2022 NBA Draft. The Houston Rockets selected him with the 3rd overall pick after Jabari Smith was speculated to have been the target for the Orlando magic with the #1 overall pick. Jabari Smith Jr. was more often than not just stuck in the corner while most of the young guards on the Rockets took turns trying to score, but I truly believe that there is a lot more to Jabari Smith Jr's game than that. Now that the Houston Rockets have parted ways with Stephen Silas in favor of bringing in former Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka, I have a feeling Jabari Smith Jr. will be in a much better position to succeed next year. I looked at how Ime Udoka used Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown during the 2021-22 NBA season, and how those same schemes can help extract a lot from Jabari this year. The way Summer League went for Jabari Smith is a glimpse into the future too. The mismanagement of Jabari Smith Jr highlights how it's one thing to draft a player, it's another thing entirely to know how to use them right. Jalen Williams is the NBA's weirdest rookie. Drafted in the 2022 NBA draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Williams has been making an immediate impact, helping the Thunder compete for a playoff spot and holding his own alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey. Jalen Williams played for Santa Clara in college, and as an older rookie, the goal was clearly for him to make an impact from day one, and he's doing just that. With plenty of upside, the OKC Thunder could be looking at another star caliber player in JDub once Chet Holmgren comes back round out their young core around SGA. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. Immanuel Quickley has proven himself an integral part of the New York Knicks, breaking out as a 6MOY candidate for his electric offense off the bench. But what if I told you he was also one of the best guard defenders in the entire NBA? Immanuel Quickley's defense is some of the best in the NBA, and he's helped the Knicks elevate to one of the best teams in the NBA since the All Star break. When the Knicks can't have Julius Randle or Jalen Brunson on the floor, they've been looking to Quickley to help anchor both their offense and defense. He hasn't disappointed them. With a full buy-in of the defensive system crafted by Tom Thibodeau, they've been nearly unstoppable. The Utah Jazz are on fire, with Lauri Markkanen playing at an All-NBA level, elevating the Jazz to 9-3 and the #1 seed in the Western Conference. The Jazz were expected to tank to go after Victor Wembanyama, but with major contributions from guys like Collin Sexton, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jordan Clarkson, and Walker Kessler, they're in better shape than we initially thought. The approach the Utah Jazz are taking is simple: get good players. But is it in their best interests to build around Lauri Markkanen, or should Danny Ainge start moving some pieces to lower their ceiling and get back in the hunt for the #1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. The Bradley Beal trade to the Phoenix Suns took everybody by surprise, kicking off the NBA offseason with a bang. The Washington Wizards were put in a difficult situation, because not only did Bradley Beal have to approve of where he was being traded to, but he also had to approve of the package that Phoenix was sending to the Wizards in return. So Chris Paul and Landry Shamet are heading to Washington, with Beal and Jordan Goodwin heading to Phoenix. But is the Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal big 3 enough to win them a championship? We saw Russell Westbrook put on a defensive masterclass in game 1 between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns, recording 2 steals and 3 blocks to help the Clippers win a game on the road in their first game of the NBA playoffs. Westbrook had a historically bad shooting night, yet if you watched the game, you saw that he was playing incredibly impactful basketball and was a primary reason why the Clippers were able to win. The offense that coach Ty Lue drew up for Kawhi Leonard was another major factor that helped them win, getting him going early and punishing the Suns for not having a defender to throw at him. With Paul George out, the Clippers need Russell Westbrook to continue playing at this level to be able to advance to the next round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. But the Russell Westbrook trade may just work out after all. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. When the Brooklyn Nets traded away Kevin Durant and acquired Mikal Bridges, I firmly believe they got a future star. Bridges has continuously improved over the course of his career with the Phoenix Suns, and now that he's in Brooklyn, I think he's going to take another leap and become a star caliber player now that he's getting more of an opportunity to shine. Mikal Bridges is having a career-year in the scoring department, and I don't think that's a coincidence. Bridges' usage is up significantly, even from his time with the Suns, and now that he's with the Nets, he's going as far as operating as the point guard for that team. The sky is the limit for Mikal Bridges following the Kevin Durant trade. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. The Chicago Bulls are turning their season around, after the acquisition of Patrick Beverley helped them revitalize their defensive approach to become on of the best defenses in the NBA since the NBA All-Star break. The Bulls defense takes a unique approach to defending pick and rolls, as it's a very group-oriented scheme that requires a lot of buy-in and trust in the gameplan. It's managed to turn Zach LaVine, who has historically been criticized for his defense, into a genuinely good defender. Alex Caruso has made a convincing case for an NBA All-Defensive First Team this year, and rising star Patrick Williams is showing he's capable of being one of the most versatile defenders in the NBA. After a rough start, the Brooklyn Nets have morphed into a major threat to the NBA. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are firing on all cylinders, and Jacque Vaughn has been the best replacement for Steve Nash that they could've asked for. With Ben Simmons finding his place within this team as a compliment to KD and Kyrie, this team is proving that they're a real threat to make it out of the East. Their mid range scoring defies modern NBA analytical philosophy, and it bodes well for the postseason. Jaden McDaniels has been a bright spot for the Minnesota Timberwolves, helping them adjust to the Rudy Gobert trade and figure out a new plan after the Karl Anthony-Towns injury. His defense has been one of the most promising aspects of his game, but McDaniels' offensive progression has made major strides as well. Jaden McDaniels defense, paired with the newfound offensive freedom, is shaping up to be a perfect pairing next to Anthony Edwards both now and whenever KAT comes back. ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production. The Golden State Warriors are making another trip to the NBA Finals behind some incredible performances from Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, but perhaps the most surprising part of it all is the contributions they've been getting from Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, and Kevon Looney. Anthony Edwards is on the cusp of stardom for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Edwards looked like a star during the 2022 playoffs against the Memphis Grizzlies, and I think that level can become the norm for him. With Rudy Gobert being added to the Timberwolves roster, they're going to need Edwards to not just become an All Star, but a Superstar as well. I think Anthony Edwards has all the tools necessary to become one, and with the supporting cast of Karl-Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert, D'Angelo Russell, and Jaden McDaniels around him, Edwards can be the number one guy for the Minnesota Timberwolves. ➥ 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚: 🤍 ➥ 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧: 🤍 ➥ 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣: 🤍 ➥ 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 Providing NBA analysis by making film digestible and using analytics thoughtfully to contextualize on-court production.
