Mr Biden urged the world to see Russia's "outrageous acts for what they are" and said no-one sought conflict apart from Moscow. His words came just hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced military reservists are to be sent to Ukraine as part of a partial mobilisation of Russian forces. President Putin accused the West of "nuclear blackmail" and said a threat to retaliate was "not a bluff". Please subscribe HERE 🤍 #US #Russia #BBCNews

Russian President Vladimir Putin made a rare televised address to the Russian people on Wednesday morning when he announced a "partial mobilization," saying the measure was needed to protect Russian people from what he called "the entire war machine of the collective West" in Ukraine. Many in Russia fear a "partial mobilization" of the military is the first step in a move that would see more and more men fight – and die – in Ukraine. Russian men rushed for the exits on Thursday after President Vladimir Putin ordered a partial mobilisation, with traffic at border crossings with Finland and Georgia surging and prices for air tickets from Moscow rocketing. Traffic at the Russia-Georgia border intensified overnight, said Ivan, a Russian driver who managed to get to Georgia. “Yesterday before midnight you could cross the border much more quickly. After midnight, either lots of cars arrived or the border guards started to work more slowly," Ivan told Reuters news service from behind the wheel of his car. He added that he and his acquaintances don't fit the age criteria for the current wave of mobilization “at the moment,” but that “We don't know what will happen next.” Long queues of cars were also reported on Russian borders with Kazakhstan and Mongolia, while Russian passengers could be found in Turkish airports. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a conference call on Thursday that reports of exodus of fighting-age men from Russia were “exaggerated”. On Wednesday, Putin ordered Russia's first mobilization since World War II and backed a plan to annex swathes of Ukraine, warning the West he was not bluffing when he said he'd be ready to use nuclear weapons to defend Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the country's first mobilization since the Second World War to fight in Ukraine on Wednesday, with about 300,000 military reservists called up. Putin and his defence minister, Sergei Shoigu, called the move a "partial mobilization," with the 300,000 coming from an approximate two million in the reserves. Putin said the mobilization was to defend Russia and its territories, adding that the West did not want peace in Ukraine. The Russian president also appeared to make a thinly veiled threat of using nuclear weapons, saying that "nuclear blackmail has come into play" by western nation and saying he'd remind those making statements that Russia has its own "variety of weapons of destruction." "If the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will without question use all the means at our disposal to protect Russia and our people. This is not a bluff," he said in a national address. He also showed support for recently announced "referendums" being held in four Russian-controlled areas of Ukraine — the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk provinces — saying they would ensure "safe conditions" to hold the referendums. Ukraine's counter-offensive in the northern Kharkiv region has put the Kremlin on the back foot, Western analysts and politicians have said. This is evidenced by a new telephone conversation of russian invaders, intercepted by the SSU. Under the mighty onslaught of Ukrainian defenders, occupiers take out their despair and hatred on civilian population: ‘Everyone hates us here... Our soldiers rape these women...’ According to the ruscist, his unit is surrounded somewhere in Donetsk region, they don’t have weapons and suffer huge losses: ‘We’re done. All our battalion has been killed…’ So, the occupier is losing the nerve and wants to return home, but the russian army does not rotate units or allow vacations. ‘It’s a total fking disaster… I’m done! I’ve lost the nerve… I want to go home, I can’t!’ he complains. Meanwhile, the command tries to restrain soldiers threatening by firing squads. The soldiers have another way out - to surrender to Ukrainian defenders. Although, russian occupiers will anyway be held to account for the war crimes committed. SSU investigators have already opened 10,000 criminal proceedings under Article 438 of the CCU (violation of laws and customs of war). We are working to bring to justice every ruscist involved in atrocities against Ukrainians!
